Mr Shilton

“It’s a real pleasure to come into work here,” Mr Shilton.

Making hair cuts feel good, Mr Shilton offers an appointment-only, one at a time, personal service. His studio is a homage to vintage style, and it feels good just walking into such an aesthetically pleasing space. A long shot from the invisible booking systems of bigger salons, here getting to know Mr Shilton, and him getting to know you, is what the connection and feel good factor is all about. That, and a decent haircut or beard trim.

With his passion for yoga and volunteering for the Coastguard, Mr Shilton is a character that you’ll enjoy spending time with. Being part of the Feel Good Building has given him the ideal location to branch out and be fully independent while also being part of a community. “I feel honoured to be part of the Feel Good Building from its inception,” he says. And in Mr Shilton’s true style, he’s created his own corner of paradise that works perfectly for him, his outlook and his hairstyling business.

“I love the can-do energy that’s here. And the collaboration. We feel good about being part of a community of like-minded creatives and entrepreneurs.” Nichola Cain, Voice.

Voice inspires businesses to do good and feel good, by inspiring them to think differently about how they work and communicate. Not only delivering a wrap of PR, marketing and digital services to give businesses a ‘voice’, their wider purpose is to initiate positive changes for the organisation, the community and the world around us all.

“We care about people. We care about the planet. We are a force for good.”

A growing enterprise with 10 staff located across Essex and Cornwall, Voice is helmed by ocean-lover Nichola Cain, who fell head-over-heels with the West Country whilst at Uni and relocated to Cornwall in 2018. Having worked her way to senior roles in London PR agencies, she scratched the itch to set up her own business 15 years ago. The journey has been all about the experiences, balance and people she’s met along the way.

Proud to be a B-Corp, Voice is people-centric, working with values-led companies, entrepreneurial characters and campaigns-based organisations. With excellence, collaboration, integrity and giving back at its heart, Voice fits right in with the like-minded businesses at the Feel Good Building.

“I’ve been in Newquay my whole life. I wanted to create a space for local people to work, socialise and achieve their dreams.” John Pearce, Oltco.

Innovators. Sustainability Warriors. Founders of the Feel Good Building. Oltco is in the business of transforming outdoor spaces from driveways and patios, to swimming pools and playgrounds.

Fuelled by a revolutionary approach and a passion for the environment, in 2019 Oltco discovered a way to incorporate waste plastics into their resin-bound stone. The result? An even stronger, more eco-friendly solution to creating porous, durable, resin-bound spaces.

Now the UK’s leading sustainable driveway company, Oltco grew from humble beginnings as a small local business in 2004. Retaining its Cornish roots and passion for sustainability, it has mushroomed into a nationally-recognised company with over 50 franchises spread as far as the Channel Islands.

Oltco’s culture is engrained in every detail of the Feel Good Building. With an iconic tree as the centre-piece of its HQ, the business has created a space to grow, innovate and inspire.

Fix Box

“It’s more than just a business solution. It’s a sociable space and being part of a community. It feels good.” Mike, Fix Box.

The more interesting and unusual the repair job, the more enjoyable Mike finds repairing it. He was the kid who was always taking things apart and trying to put them back together again. And he’s become a bonafide pro at repairing all sorts of different gadgets. Cameras, batteries, housings, screens, water damage… you name it, Mike will fix it.

Previously Cornwall iPhone Repair, Fix Box is still predominantly an iPhone and iPad specialist, but has become the place to go to for a much wider array of electrical repairs – from all makes of mobile phones, tablets, gaming devices and laptops, to quirky electrical items including electronic car keys, remote controlled water pumps and even basket ball shoes with electronic shoe laces! With a long-standing reputation for quality repairs. Mike takes pride in sourcing original, good quality parts, and all repairs are backed up with a 12-month warranty.

More than just a local guy providing a decent service, Fix Box advocates refurbishing, re-using and recycling devices. His message is that nothing needs to be thrown away; there’s even someone to re-use the broken screens he replaces. Now doesn’t that make you feel good?

Chelsea was drawn to Newquay 12 years ago for its sense of freedom and the surfing beaches. As well as being able to make the most of the waves on the doorstep of the Feel Good Building, she also loves taking time out by the sea walking the dog.

“Giving myself time out in nature makes me feel calm and settled in for a day at work. I can bring the dog to work and have a productive, balanced day. Which makes me feel good and will help grow my business.”

“The Feel Good Building has helped turn our vision of Crib into something truly great.”

Inspired by the Cornish word for mid-morning snack, Crib was founded from a love of wholesome and delicious food, and great quality coffee.

Founders Savannah and Joe are passionate about creating an experience where locals can escape the hustle and bustle of the high street and enjoy hearty food created using local Cornish produce.

You’ll find Savannah and Joe serving up delicious breakfast and lunch dishes including deep filled sandwiches and daily changing seasonal salad boxes. Whether you’re on the go or have time to sit and eat with friends, Crib is the ideal daytime spot.

Crib is also the perfect stop for those looking to start their day with a full-bodied espresso or indulge their sweet tooth with a caramel frappe. All coffee is supplied by local roasters, Grounded Coffee Co, which was founded in 2021 by local firefighter, Olly. Grounded Coffee Co has become a huge hit with the local Newquay community and you can get your fix here at Crib.

The duo has poured their heart and soul into Crib and as the business grows, Savannah and Joe want to give back to the local community that means so much to the both of them.
